December 15, 2011

Today I went to Cliff's Gunsmithing in Castlewood. We talked about the gun and the plans for it for 1 hour and 30 minutes. He gave me an estimate of $800- $1000 for the total. Cliff told me that he would allow me to do some work on the gun, but it would be too dangerous for me to do the whole restoration, because I do not have the qualifications that are need to work with the dangerous weapon. He recommended that I should work on the stock, and stain it. He also added that it would look cool if I would laser engrave on the stock to customize it. The gun was my great grandfather's, so i will most likely customize it in honor of him. I left the gun with him, so that he could look at it further and he is going to call me when he figures out what is need to further into the restoration.
